These are fully realized productions that perform on the OYES Youth Center Stage at the Ojai Valley Community Church campus.  OYES’s after-school musical theatre and drama enrichment program operates similarly to an after-school dance, music, or sports program.

Weekly rehearsals include drama exercises and games to build performance skills, and rehearsal time to learn music, staging, and choreography for the show.

All participants registered in the program, receive a role in the production. Auditions for placement are held during the first week of production.

Peter Pan, JR

INTRODUCTION -- Adapted from the 1954 Broadway Musical (not the Disney version) Based on J.M. Barrie's classic tale and featuring an unforgettable score by Morris "Moose" Charlap and Jule Styne with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh and Betty Comden and Adolph Green, Peter Pan is one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favorites of all time. This high-flying Tony Award-winning musical has been performed around the world and delighted audiences for 60 years and is now adapted for young performers.

Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook.

Featuring the iconic songs, "I'm Flying," "I've Gotta Crow," "I Won't Grow Up" and "Never Never Land," and a rousing book full of magic, warmth and adventure, Peter Pan JR. is the perfect show for the child in all of us... who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up. Peter Pan JR. is a dream come true for groups looking to bring magic to their stage and entertain countless families.

VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT - OYES is a nonprofit organization supported by a team of volunteer participation.  A refundable volunteer deposit check in the amount of $75 will be due at your audition or first rehearsal. To join the volunteer team, parents sign up for at least one "Volunteer Spot" (volunteer leadership opportunities as well as easy one-time-only spots such as distributing posters, theater tidiness, concessions, box-office and more).  Volunteer deposits are fully refundable upon sign-up and completion of your volunteer commitment.

ABOUT CASTING - Our goal is to provide participants the tools they need to participate in an ensemble, and have a fantastic time learning and growing in this group process. We aim to provide as much stage time as possible to every participant, and encourage our cast members to be part of an ensemble group no matter what role they are cast to play. We’re here to enjoy the experience! The casting process takes into consideration various factors including presentations at audition, experience, training, passion, growth, commitment to rehearsals and practice, roles previously played, and last but definitely not least, the chemistry of the cast over all.

The production team maintains the privilege of casting the show as they see fit, and intend to create a well-balanced cast. Please encourage your child to embrace their casting, and remember, there are no small parts.

CANCELLATION POLICY - Any cancellations must be made within 48 hours of registration in order to receive a refund of the tuition fees, minus a $50 cancellation fee. Tuition fees are non-refundable if registration is canceled after 48 hours of the time of registration. 100% of tuition fees returned if classes canceled by  OYES.

Planning for the production is based on enrollment.  Participation in a musical production requires dedication to learning music, choreography, staging, and lines.  In emergency or extenuating circumstances, fee credits and additional refund options are considered.
