COVID-19 Policies & Practices

OYES is committed to following all guidelines and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), California and Ventura County Departments of Health, and our local leadership.

COVID-19 Related Terms of Participation

OYES classes, programs, and activities hereinafter called the “Activity.”

For the safety of all people involved, participants in the Activity will be required to adhere to all safety protocols and are subject to immediate removal from the Activity if they do not comply.

By agreeing to the Covid-19 Participation Terms, I the Parent/Guardian promise to:

TEMPERATURE -- Perform regular temperature checks on my child(ren) to screen for fever before arrival for the Activity. Fever is defined as a temperature over 100.4 F or 38.0 C.  If my child(ren) has a fever, I will not permit my child(ren) to participate in the Activity until he/she has been without a fever for at least 5 days.

SYMPTOMS -- Make a visual inspection of my child(ren) for signs of illness which could include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, flushed cheeks, rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity), fatigue, or extreme fussiness. If my child(ren) has exhibited any of these signs or symptoms, I will not permit my child(ren) to participate in the Activity until he/she has been without signs or symptoms for at least 5 days.

EXPOSURE -- Confirm that my child(ren) has not been in contact with someone who has either tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days or is waiting for test results. If my child(ren) has been in contact with such a person, I will follow the CDC guidelines for exposure.

ISOLATION — If my child has tested positive for COVID-19, I will follow the CDC guidelines for Isolation.

AVAILABILITY -- Promptly pick up my child(ren) or arrange for pickup if signs or symptoms of illness are present.

MASK -- Provide a face mask for my child to wear on the premises.  Learn more from the CDC about how to find the best mask for your student here. Masking will be required according to California state and local governing regulations.

Students, Instructors, and Volunteers

  • OYES reserves the right to conduct a temperature check prior to commencement of class rehearsals. Temperature checks will be done with a contactless thermometer. No one with a temperature higher than 100° will be permitted to enter the building.

  • OYES will encourage and enforce to the best of our ability a “no food sharing” policy among students to protect students from allergens, food sensitivities, and dietary restrictions as well as COVID-19 spread.

  • We will provide hand sanitizer in every learning space and remind young people to wash their hands/sanitize frequently.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER AND RELEASE REGARDING COVID-19

The novel Coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is reported to be highly contagious and spread easily from person to person. COVID-19 may result in serious illness, debilitating injury, or death. Older adults and people of any age, including children, who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness or death from COVID-19.  As a result, Federal, State, and local governments and health agencies recommend social distancing, wearing a mask, and have, in many locations, regulated the congregation of groups of people.

Your acknowledgement of this notice determines that you, the parent or guardian, are fully aware of the current pandemic and the inherent risk involved.

Ojai Youth Entertainers Studio (OYES) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, notwithstanding any such efforts, it is not possible to guarantee that COVID-19 is not present nor will prevent you or your child from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19. Further, like any public place, participation in OYES programs could increase your risk of contracting COVID-19.  OYES classes, programs, performances, and activities hereinafter called “Activity.”

By agreeing to this Waiver and Release I, the Parent/Guardian acknowledge:

• ASSUMPTION OF RISK FOR COVID-19: I understand that my child’s participation in this activity is voluntary and is not required. By agreeing below, I acknowledge that I have carefully read the above; understand the risks of COVID-19 associated with participating in Activity related to the OYES program.

I further acknowledge that I understand that the risk of exposure to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 may result from the acts, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including but not limited to the OYES employees, agents, representatives, volunteers; other students, program participants, and their families; and/or other individuals who may be present in OYES facilities or in attendance at any OYES Activity.

I knowingly assume such risks, including the risk of serious illness, debilitating injury, or death to my child and myself.

•WAIVER OF LIABILITY/HOLD HARMLESS:

I voluntarily agree to waive and discharge any and all claims against OYES related to or arising out of COVID-19, and voluntarily release OYES from liability for any exposure to or illness or injury from COVID-19, including claims for negligent actions of OYES or its employees, agents, representatives, and volunteers related to or arising out of COVID-19, on behalf of myself and my child to the fullest extent allowed by law.

By agreeing and signing below, and in consideration for providing my child the opportunity to participate in OYES Activity, I agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless OYES and its employees, agents, volunteers, and representatives from all liability, claims, causes of action, or demands, including attorney fees, fines, fees, or other costs (e.g. medical costs) arising out of any exposure to or illness or injury from COVID-19.
