SUMMER PROGRAMS IN THE WORKS!

JUNE - AUGUST

🎙️ Youth Radio Plays | CAMPS

OYES is developing Radio Plays programming to continue into the Summer and Fall sessions — to be streamed on www.ojairadio.org

Students will explore the art of voice acting, sound design, and live performance as they bring original and classic radio scripts to life.

Participants will develop character voices, explore microphone techniques, and discover student foley technque to create imaginative sound effects, while rehearsing and performing a full radio play.

Culminates in a live studio performance for an audience, while broadcast live on local radio and streamed online.

💡 What’s a radio play?
A radio play is a theatrical performance created entirely through sound with voices, music, and effects to spark the listener’s imagination. The most famous example, War of the Worlds (1938), captivated audiences when Orson Welles’ dramatic broadcast made listeners believe aliens were invading Earth!

This unique class blends acting, storytelling, and technical artistry. A perfect opportunity for young performers, storytellers, and sound enthusiasts ready to explore a new creative challenge!

As You Like It

Young Actors Ensemble • Shakespeare's As You Like It , directed by Mr. Casey Robbins.

As You Like It is one of William Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. The play is set in the Forest of Arden and tells the story of Rosalind, the play’s heroine, who flees her uncle’s court after she is banished. It explores themes of love, identity, the role of women in society, and the contrast between the artificial court life and the freedom of the natural world.

The play, like many of Shakespeare’s works, focuses on mistaken identities, disguise, and the exploration of different types of love—romantic, familial, and platonic. Its blend of humor, pastoral themes, and philosophical exploration has made it a timeless work, relevant for both its social commentary and the depth of its characters. // https://literopedia.com/as-you-like-it-summary-by-william-shakespeare

Vision

This summer our YAE Shakespeare production returns the play to its roots with a simple, actor-driven approach. With little to no technical elements, the focus is on storytelling, language, and the connection between performer and audience.

Our actors rely on voice, movement, and clarity to bring the narrative to life, supported by minimal costumes and essential props. By returning to the essentials, the experience becomes immediate, intimate, and alive.
