Andrew Kober brings his NYU workshop to OYES

Step into the room with a working Broadway actor and experienced acting coach.

Andrew Kober, who originated the role of Dr. Butridge /Jabberwock in ALICE BY HEART Off-Broadway, is coming to Ojai for an intimate, high-impact masterclass designed for serious young performers.

This 3-hour session focuses on the discipline of acting a song — the intersection of text, intention, and vocal performance. This work is designed to break through performance blocks, sharpen specificity, and build authentic, confident storytelling through song.

Students will work on material they bring in, applying professional-level techniques used to interpret lyrics as text, make clear and playable choices, and connect intention directly to vocal performance.

The session begins with a focused group warm-up, followed by individualized coaching with each performer, and concludes with a candid Q&A on Broadway, training pathways, and navigating the industry.

This is not a vocal workshop. This is acting training.

Up to 12 participants will receive focused, one-on-one coaching in a group setting designed to elevate the entire room. Students may bring a 60–90 second cut of a song or monologue. Not all students will be called to work one-on-one . This is a traditional workshop format where everyone benefits from the work happening in the room.

Students do not have to perform if they don’t want to. There is real value in simply being in the room, observing, and taking in the direction and notes.

Workshops of this caliber are often out of reach for many families due to cost. Through grant support from the City of Ojai, this opportunity is being offered at a significantly reduced rate to expand access.

Space is limited to 14 students max.
